Automatic ceiling fan winding machine - Islamabad Department of Mechatronics ( Air University Main Campus) 2013 - vi;46p. CD

Our project’s main goal was to design and fabricate an industrial ceiling fan winding machine in a small cost as compared to those machines available in industries. In this we made the complete ceiling fan stator winding process automatic, user only has to place the stator in machine and the end result will give a completely winded stator(all of the coils). User has the control to set the fan winding specs i.e. number of turns on a single coil. The main working starts from the rotation of the disc (spindle) which is used for the winding purpose, the wire is placed at the back and is passing through the spindle and tightened to a pole at the stator post. When the AC- motor at the back (attached with the spindle through a belt) starts rotating, the winding process starts and the guides are used to guide the wire to get wound on the stator coils, a proximity sensor is used to measure the no. of turns, when the no. of turns become equal to the desired turns, the motor stops and for precise no. of turns the magnetic brakes get activated, and a pneumatic actuator is attached to the stator post which pulls back the stator post and then the stepper motor under the stator post rotates the stator at a required step (depends on no. of coils in the stator), and then the pneumatic actuator brings back the stator post towards the spindle and the same process starts again until all the coils are winded.
