SPV (Solar Panel Vehicle) has been developed to be an energy efficient vehicle that runs on solar power, partly obtained from solar-panels and partly from mains through electric charging. We integrated solar panels, voltage controller and motor on a Vespa-rickshaw vehicle Chassis. The energy taken from the sunlight is used to run the motor. The battery act as a storage device for storing the electric energy obtained from the Solar Panels as well as from the mains. The solar panels take the energy from the Sun, the energy taken from the Sun is converted into electrical energy via dc/dc converter and that energy is stored in the battery. The electrical energy stored is then used to run motor, which drives the vehicle. The vehicle has the option of charging the battery from the mains as well. This project is a successful initiation and facilitate of a design of an urban car that will run on solar energy; thereby avoiding the rising cost of fuel. The goal of this project was to create a practical application while using, environment friendly, renewable and alternative sources of energy.
