This report describes the design and fabrication of a distilled water generation system along with the microcontroller based circuits. The mechanical part of project includes the design and fabrication of condenser and piping system and electronic part includes the Microcontroller ATMEL 89C51 with which temperature sensors and level sensors are interfaced with liquid crystal display LCD, Fan sucks vapors and pumps them into the condenser , relays are used to switch the Fan off when level sensor sense that required level of distilled water is achieved. The project consist of modification of an ordinary solar water heater (SWH) to produce hot water and distilled water. In an ordinary SWH ,a steam vent pipe is used to release pressure if developed .water vapour always leak through the vent losing both heat and water to the atmosphere. The project attempts to capture both the heat and water by using a condenser. The condenser condenses the vapours and collect it as distilled water and heat of condensation is passed on to the cold inlet water to the SWH. Amount of hot and distilled water may be adjusted by controlling the water level in the storage tank of the SWH with the help of a microcontroller attached with SWH. The device is particularly useful for pharmaceutical industries where both hot and distilled water are required. We have designed and constructed the condenser and installed sensor to measure temperature ,solar radiation and distilled water for the project.
