Summary, etc. | Our objective was to make a hovercraft which has the capability to move over every surface, the surface can be water, land or any other as it floats in air supported by cushion of air. The hovercraft produces air by the means of fan or propeller forced by motor or engine attached to it which is trapped beneath the vehicle by a curtain which covers the base by surrounding it completely. And when the air is completely trapped beneath the vehicle by curtain which is normally called ‘skirt’, it manages to make an air cushion on any smooth surface which can be land or water surface and travels by making a frictionless surface. As hovercraft follows this working procedure, it can travel upon water surface too, which is known as amphibious hovercraft. For horizontal motion of hovercraft, the propeller is pivoted within the duct. The rudders attached to the duct are responsible for the turning of hovercraft and the rudders can easily be controlled by the person driving the hovercraft, so he changes the direction of hovercraft by controlling the movement of rudders. The remote control controls the overall motion of the hovercraft. It has ON/OFF key to turn the blower ‘ON’ and another key to control the motion and speed of the propeller. We control the motion of rudders through remote control which makes the hovercraft move right or left. |
