Mine detecting robot

Shahid, Waqas (080395); 2012

Mine detecting robot - Islamabad. Department of Mechatronics (Air University Main Campus) 2012 - vii;50p. CD available.

We know land mines are a big crises now a day’s. According to a survey about 500 million land mines are still buried underground and these statistics are increasing day by day. Now if we discuss about Pakistan, we will come to know that Pakistan is facing problems due to land mines. Pakistan is currently not using robotic technology for defense. We have the capability to design and fabricate such robots that can be used in warfare’s. Autonomous robots are very useful and lifesaving technology that is used by advanced countries now a day’s. Due to this technology maximum target of forcing enemy back can be retrieved. These robots can be used as spy’s. The purpose of selecting this project was just to give an idea that underground mines can be detected autonomously without giving any danger to human lives. We are using metal detectors just to give an idea and a prototype. Metal detectors detect mines and a special mechanical mechanism is introduced in this robot i.e. four pairs of interchangeable tires due to which robot will avoid stepping over the mine without damaging itself and mark the location of that mine through a spray paint gun. We are using following main components. i) Aluminum mechanical base ii) Four links with a pair of tires with each iii) Metal detectors and spray paint gun iv) DC motors and some complex electric circuitry
