The case deals with the concept of ''glass ceiling'' in detail. It examines the various reasons that prevent women from reaching the top management positions in the corporate world. The case also provides several examples of women who have reached top management positions in the US and in India. The case is structured to enable students to: (1) understand the concept of the corporate glass ceiling effect; (2) identify the circumstances or factors that have brought corporate glass ceiling into existence; (3) form an opinion about the existence of a glass ceiling; and (4) arrive at ways to overcome the glass ceiling effect in corporate companies. The case is aimed at MBA/PGDBA students and is part of the human resources management curriculum.
