Miltary based UGV

By: Material type: TextPublication details: Islamabad. Department of Mechatronics Engineering (Air Univeristy Main Campus) 2014.Description: xi;65p. CDSummary: Military Based UGV is a prototype ‘Unmanned Ground Vehicle’ that is to be designed for the use of military for surveillance purposes. The idea behind the project is to provide a means of surveillance to remote and inaccessible areas and areas where threat to human life is eminent. The use of UGVs shall lower the risks to human lives especially of front line soldiers who go deep into hostile territory for the purpose of gathering Intel and surveillance. The use of UGV combined with its mode of ‘control’ can limit the direct involvement of human being. UGVs can primarily be automated or remote controlled. Military Based UGV is ‘Remote Controlled’ UGV as it provides real time control of the vehicle to end user. The person controlling the vehicle shall decide what to do next after examining the surrounding environment of the vehicle. Working principle of the UGV is kept simple and noise efficient with the use of electric motors instead of engines. Powered with rechargeable batteries, motors will provide the required torque and power to drive the prototype vehicle. For the surveillance, a camera is mounted in front which transmits real time video feed to the controller unit. Fabrication of the project was done successfully and it completed its stated objectives by providing mobility on rugged terrains as well as live video feed.
