Electromagnetic propulsion train

By: Material type: TextPublication details: Islamabad Department of Mechatronics Engineering (Air University Main Campus) 2013Description: 53p. CDSummary: With the passage of time of population is increasing and increasing so in result cities are becoming congested and crowded so our normal modes of transportation will not be able to handle these overpopulated areas. Only the superconducting magnets and electromagnetism can solve this transportation problem. A magnetic train which can only be made by electromagnets can solve this problem. Due to the attraction-repulsion principal of the magnets the train moves forward. In our magnetic train model we have made the track, electromagnets are attached below the track and the permanent magnets are attached with the base of the train. Electric current given to coils produces magnetic field, which attracts or repels permanent magnets according to the position of the North-South Poles. Hall-Effect sensors are used for the purpose of changing the polarity of the electromagnets according to the North-South direction of the permanent magnets. This project gives the idea how to produce and implement the electromagnets, how to change their polarity and hence, the start of experimenting magnetic train, and later on it can be converted to magnetic levitated train.
