This dissertation examines ―impact of core job dimensions on employees‘ job satisfaction in the banking sector of Pakistan‖. In this research the focus has been curtailed to only five elements of core job dimensions that are skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy and feedback. Two companies from the banking industry are selected to conduct the research and measure the impact of core job dimensions on employee‘s job satisfaction. The purpose of this research was to understand the impact of the core job dimensions (i.e. Skill Variety, Task Identity, Task Significance, Employee Empowerment and Feedback) on the satisfaction of employee. The job characteristic model of Hackman and Oldham is a widely tested model in the west. Here in our business environments, the employee behavior is shaped differently, so therefore the purpose is to investigate whether the Hackman and Oldham job characteristic model yields similar results as it does in the western world or do factors vary. Also to identify the factor which is playing the most pivotal role in the enhancing employee motivation. Taking in account the current financial circumstances and market conditions; the organizations have to come up with extremely focused interventions. Targeting the right factor will help in attainment of effectively and efficiency of the intervention. Four out of five core job dimension characteristics ( Skill Variety, Task Identity, Task Significance, Autonomy) are highly significant and correlated to Job Satisfaction; whereas, Feedback is insignificant.
